Running Linux on Windows

I'm currently running Linux on Windows XP. In fact, I'm typing this inside Linux, which is running through VMWare Player. It's a cool software that virtualizes an entire PC inside my computer enabling me to run Linux parallel to Windows. I did some research on doing so and found another software called CoLinux. It seemed promising but had to do a lot of setup and that was a big headache. And it didn't work.So I turned to this software. It's cool and I have a running "Damn Small Linux" distro right inside Windows XP. I can switch between Linux and Windows any time. There is another one called andLinux which supposedly should work straight out of the box though it's based on CoLinux.

That's it for now. I'm also using Qwerty to Dvorak Online Converter since the Linux distro is in Qwerty mode, and changing it to Dvorak doesn't work until restart, and nothing is saved, so on restart it will revert to qwerty anyway.

Thanks for reading. Take care.

March and April Updates

Microsoft Bob - A failed attempt of Microsoft at creating a "user-friendly" software. Rare to get now. It was developed it the 1990s. Search for it and if you can get it, do try. Little kids will like it, as it will be a fun way for them to use your computer.

RiverPast Video Cleaner Pro - What I use to convert videos from one format to another. User friendly and straight forward. For simple as well as advanced users.

Windows Defender - Anti-spyware for free, from Microsoft.

MidpX J2ME Emulators Package - Play Java mobile games on your computer! (also Midp2Exe)

MatchUp - A concentration game from Microsoft.

And of course, Vista Transformation Pack (see last post :)

Give your XP a Vista make-over

Bored with the old XP look? Friends talking about the cool Vista interface and you have no money to shell out for it? Get the Vista Transformation Pack. Though it can't bring all the eyecandy to your XP screen, it can still do a pretty good job.
I installed Vista Transformation Pack 6.
- Disabled VisualTooltip and Styler.
- Was forced to disable Sidebar because it started hanging. I hope it will be fine tomorrow :P
- Created a new theme called "Windows Aero Black" because transparent window borders is not available in XP, and you will have to buy WindowBlinds if you want to recreate that effect.
The default blue theme is so dirty without the transparency effect.
Here's the Black msstyles file:
Go to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
Copy the folder Windows Aero, rename the copy as Windows Aero Black.
Open the new folder Windows Aero Black, and delete the "Windows Aero.msstyles" f…
